Anglesey's Beautiful Beaches
Many of Anglesey's beaches won awards in 2004,
but an incredible 6 won the prestigious European Blue Flag awards. Namely,
Benllech, Trearddur Bay, Port, Llanddona, Silver Bay, and Llanddwyn.
These beaches mentioned are sandy, and suitable for all ages. The two
described below are within easy walking distance, the others are short car
journey, driving right up to the beach car park.
Rhoscolyn, Borth Wen - Green Coast Award,
Rural Seaside Award
Has a sheltered cove with a large sandy, sloping beach is backed by
dunes and edged by rock pools. The car park has toilet facilities, including
facilities for disabled visitors.
Access: By foot it's only less than a 10 minute walk down a private lane. By
car Rhoscolyn is sign posted off the B 4545 Valley to Trearddur Bay road.
Rhoscolyn, Silver Bay (Traeth Llydan) -
Green Coast Award, Rural Seaside Award
This is a long, sandy beach backed by dunes. It is ideal for
windsurfing, surfing, sea canoeing, sailing and swimming.
Access: By foot access to the beach is through the Silver Bay holiday Park for
which there is no charge. Traeth Llydan - Silver Bay, is sign posted off the A5025
Valley to Trearddur Bay road.
